Issues 2000 - This very useful site tracks the views espoused by the various leading Presidential candidates. Covering a wide array of issues, the site has both simple position graphs and detailed statements on all of the major issues. This non-partisan site seeks to provide "information for voters ... so that votes can be based on issues rather than on personalities and popularity." Democracy in Action: P2000 - A great site with lots of detailed information on all of the leading Presidential candidates. Very useful -- although be patient as the first page takes a while to load (but it's worth the wait). White House 2000 - Northern Illinois University Professor Avi Bass presents this list of assorted links related to various Presidential candidates in 2000. Lists official and unofficial sites for serious and not-so-serious candidates. Ballot Access News - This important publication tracks the attempts of third party and independent candidates to secure ballot access in the various states. Use this page to stay current on which candidates will and won't appear on your state's general election ballot in November 2000. Electoral Polling Map - ElectYou.com -- a Georgia political web site design firm -- presents this regularly updated national map tracking which Presidential candidate leads in the polls on a state-by-state basis. Obviously, this state data is important as the electoral votes -- not the popular vote -- determine the winner of the Presidential election. Commission on Presidential Debates - Established in 1987 to ensure that debates remain a permanent part of every general election, this nonprofit and nonpartisan organization sponsored all the general election debates in 1988, 1992, and 1996 -- and is likely to do so again in 2000. Their controversial and restrictive participation rules -- posted on the site -- largely exclude third party candidates (even the major ones) from participating in the debates.
