eMediaNews P2000 Resources Page

Recent Polls

Recent P2000 Poll Results - Politics1 has assembled on one handy page all of the recent, independent national poll results for all the variations on the P2000 general election match-ups.

PollingReport.com

We have to have the interns check to see if this is state by state or primary results. Browse polling questions to see how GOP candidates match up against each other in the eyes of the voters.

Election Calendar

P2000 Calendar of Elections & Events - Follow this link to find the results from the P2000 primary contests (until Bush and Gore clinched the nominations in March) and information on the upcoming nominating conventions.

Other Useful P2000 Sites

Project Vote Smart - A very useful directory of P2000 candidates, with basic bio information, calendar and links. Eventually, the site will also feature detailed issue survey responses from the various candidates.

C-SPAN: Road to the White House - Information, links and some streaming video events from one of the nation's leading sources of raw political television coverage. Seemingly updated weekly.

Washington Post: White House 2000 - Regularly updated Post articles on the candidates and events of the P2000 campaign trail.

Issues 2000 - This very useful site tracks the views espoused by the various leading Presidential candidates. Covering a wide array of issues, the site has both simple position graphs and detailed statements on all of the major issues. This non-partisan site seeks to provide "information for voters ... so that votes can be based on issues rather than on personalities and popularity."

Democracy in Action: P2000 - A great site with lots of detailed information on all of the leading Presidential candidates. Very useful -- although be patient as the first page takes a while to load (but it's worth the wait).

White House 2000 - Northern Illinois University Professor Avi Bass presents this list of assorted links related to various Presidential candidates in 2000. Lists official and unofficial sites for serious and not-so-serious candidates.

Ballot Access News - This important publication tracks the attempts of third party and independent candidates to secure ballot access in the various states. Use this page to stay current on which candidates will and won't appear on your state's general election ballot in November 2000.

Electoral Polling Map - ElectYou.com -- a Georgia political web site design firm -- presents this regularly updated national map tracking which Presidential candidate leads in the polls on a state-by-state basis. Obviously, this state data is important as the electoral votes -- not the popular vote -- determine the winner of the Presidential election.

Commission on Presidential Debates - Established in 1987 to ensure that debates remain a permanent part of every general election, this nonprofit and nonpartisan organization sponsored all the general election debates in 1988, 1992, and 1996 -- and is likely to do so again in 2000. Their controversial and restrictive participation rules -- posted on the site -- largely exclude third party candidates (even the major ones) from participating in the debates.

Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections - Dave Leip prepared this very informative site, which provides historic voting results from the 2000 Presidential primaries and the Presidential general elections of 1860-1996.

SelectSmart.com - Although the pointed questions seem skewed a bit to favor conservative candidates and some questions are rather hard to answer within the rather simplistic response options (because a more complex answer may be more accurate), this site is still a lot of fun. Answer the list of nearly 20 questions, click the button and ... voila ... up pops the stats on which P2000 candidates you agree with the most.

2000 GOP.com - Run by Republican partisans, this site tracks the progress of the GOP candidates for President and Vice President. Online polls, news, candidate profiles and more.

Skeleton Closet - If you don't have anything nice to say about a Presidential candidate, then come say it here. This site prides itself on broadcasting "All the Dirt on All the Candidates ... Because character DOES matter!" The site currently contains rumors and scandals on several of the Y2K hopefuls. Even Skeleton Closet concedes that some of the posted dirt "is still a little sketchy." Are all the stories true? You decide.
